in a crowded smartphone market where Tecno is the underdog to titans
like Samsung, Apple and HTC. The Tecno company needed to standout and
prove itself to customers among other competitors, hence the birth of
Tecno P5.
The Tecno P5 device is not the latest of the Tecno family but it’s
still relevant and hasn’t lost its credibility because of its
affordability and awesomeness. Though it comes with some customer
dissatisfaction among its various advantages which I will be discussing
below shortly.
MERITS
Tecno P5 comes fully loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Beans operating system. It has a light weight, its pocket friendly and easy to carry about.. A great plus for this device considering its price class is its camera, it has a 5 Mega pixels auto-focus camera at the back and a sharp 2.0 Mega pixels in front.
Inbuilt 4GB disk space with ability to expand up to 32GB, waoh!
More useful is the ability to move applications installed on internal memory to the external SD card, freeing up space for those apps that need to run from the phone itself.
It comes with a plastic case to protect the phone ;), a usb cord, a charger and an ear-piece.
DEMERITS
The 4-inch screen display is not compatible with most HD games, also there is no Over The Air upgrade for Tecno P5, the operating system starts and stops at Jelly Beans 4.2 factory fitted at least for now.
HARDWARE
It comes with a plastic outer case, a fairly big battery, its sleek and pocket friendly with side volume controller and power/lock button at the other side of the phone. Its still the same familiar design but the P5 comes with a 4-inch display which is a plus for a device of such a class..Tecno P5 comes with more closed rounded edge compared to the likes of D5, n7 and n3. Its also an all-touch device with no Home button and the only buttons on it are the volume buttons and the Power button.
OPERATING SYSTEM
As said earlier the Tecno P5 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Beans OS pre-installed from factory which is unarguably the most popular and stable version of Android in the market and can be found on most High-End devicesCAMERA
The back camera is 5 Mega Pixels while the front is 2 Mega Pixels. It supports Skype and other video callings. The main camera is just perfect for the screen size.DISPLAY
Display is a great factor to consider when choosing a mobile device, with its 4″ screen size, it comes handy and fun to navigate around. The resolution is 480*800 which is not a bad idea, but remember it has no High Definition displayNETWORK AND CONNECTIVITY
It has a great internet with 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connections, lest I forget it comes with an amazingly fast file sharing app named Flash Share, you can’t just wait to lay your hands on this device.It has the capability of creating a mobile hotspot, which shares its mobile data via Wi-Fi, I can’t say the maximum number of devices it can accomodate, but I did connect 3 other devices to it and it worked.
MEMORY
It comes with inbuilt 4GB disk space with ability to expand up to 32GB and a 512MB of RAM.BATTERY
The rating on the Battery is 1800mAh and should have a Talk time of 8.5 hours with 288 hours on standby, well, this I tried putting on the Radio for a little over 8 hours. This is not bad for a device of this class.APPS [BBM, WHATSAPP, INSTAGRAM, GAMES ETC]
It supports numerous social apps and games from the Google Play Store, the apps include the famous Blackberry Messenger (BBM), Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Temple Run, etc. all works fine, incase you feel your memory is getting used up, just move the app to the memory card, that simple PRICE
From my street and online shopping research, I realized the prices varies and it falls between 15,000 and 19,000 Naira in Lagos, Nigeria.OTHER FEATURES include; Auto rotate from portrait to landscape and vice-versa, music and video players.
